What the glaze does

Reactive glaze carries mineral oxides that travel while the piece fires. Thickness, kiln position and the shape underneath all pull the boundary between the colours around, so speckles land differently and a fade can sit higher or lower on the next piece.

Care
  1. 1. Warm it firstRinse a cold piece in warm water before you pour something boiling into it.
  2. 2. Cloth betweenStack with a cloth in the gap. Glaze is glass, and glass scratches glass.
  3. 3. Cloth, not wireWarm water and a cloth take off everything a mug picks up in a week.

Trash Waste of Money

Coffee mug looks cool, but the lid leaks and for some reason it doesn't keep my coffee/tea warm for very long. Even using a mug warmer doesn't work well with it because of its tapered design with a narrow base. Which also makes it easier to tip over. It's just not designed well. The whole selling point is the coloring. Beyond that, it's pretty useless compared to all my other mugs. Even smaller mugs without lids keep my coffee warm for longer.Update: The mug has now cracked for no reason. Didn’t drop it or anything. Piece of trash.

Nice cup but ….

This is a mixed bag. As a tea cup I love it, the design and feel of cup. As a travel mug the lid is a pain in the ass. The lid part that covers the hole is too tall and rubs your nose. It also doesn’t keep the tea hot enough. Not sure it is worth the money

Overall very nice but does not hold 18 ounces as advertised

I got one cup to check it out before going for 4 cups total. I like the design, it really looks nice and the lid does prevent coffee from splashing out but it is a bit heavy & tall and somewhat awkward to hold the cup and sip. Using cupholder in car the height of the cup is actually good because it should prevent the handle itself getting in the way of placing in the cup holder. For home use it is not the best but I can get used to this and will most likely order the additional cups. However, I took this down to 4 star instead of 5 because it does not hold 18 ounces as advertised. In fact putting 16 ounces in the cup takes it so close to the very top that the slightest movement could cause a problem. I can get used to this also since my Keurig only makes coffee in 12 ounces maximum quantity but the description is just simply wrong since it does not hold 18 ounces as advertised.Overall I would recommend to others but just beware if you really need 18 ounces this cup will not do the trick.

Excellent travel mug. Highly recommend

This is an outstanding ceramic mug. The lid fits securely and snugly, with no wobbling or leaks, which makes it great for enjoying coffee on the go or simply preventing spills at home. The packaging was excellent — everything arrived safely protected with thoughtful, attractive presentation that made unboxing a pleasant experience. It felt premium right from the start. As for performance, the mug keeps coffee warm for a very decent amount of time, exactly what you’d expect from a quality ceramic piece. It retains heat well without getting uncomfortably hot to the touch on the outside. The build quality feels solid and durable, and the overall design is both functional and stylish.I’m really pleased with this purchase. It’s a simple, reliable everyday mug that does exactly what it should — and does it well. Would definitely buy again!

Beautiful Father's day gift!!

This is a beautiful cup and was appreciated by both my Dad and Father in law. I did have an issue of the lid not fitting properly when I first received the mug but, after contacting the Customer Service department through email they sent me a replacement right away and this mug is just as beautiful and has a perfectly fitting lid. They were so kind and were very willing to take care of the situation. I will definitely be supporting this company again.

What you are holding

The same eight things are true of every piece we make.

Fired hard

Stoneware fires dense, so it holds heat and shrugs off the knock against a tap.

Glaze that moves

Mineral oxides travel in the heat, so the firing draws the line between colours.

Handles for full mugs

A large mug carries a handle you can put a whole hand through.

Made to stack

Wide feet and even rims, so a shelf of them sits flat.

A Bosmarlin mug in a reactive glaze

Dishwasher and microwave

Stated on nearly every piece in the range, and true of the glaze rather than a hope.

No two alike

Speckles land differently and a fade can sit higher or lower on the next piece.

Lead-free and cadmium-free

As stated on the range. The care page spells out what that means.

Sized for real drinks

From 8.5 oz for a cappuccino to 50 oz for a mug of soup.

Stoneware, porcelain and earthenware

Three words used loosely on the same shelf. They describe how hot the clay was fired and how much water it will still absorb, and that difference decides how a piece behaves in a dishwasher, in a microwave and against the edge of a sink.

Stoneware, what we make

  • Fired hot and dense, so it absorbs almost no water
  • Heavy in the hand and stable on a desk
  • Chips are rare, and a chip does not soak up coffee
  • Holds heat noticeably longer than a thin cup

Porcelain

  • Fired hot too, but thrown thin and light
  • Elegant, and far easier to chip on a tap
  • Cools faster because there is less body to hold heat
  • Usually sold as a full service rather than by the piece

Earthenware

  • Fired lower, so the body stays porous
  • Depends entirely on its glaze to hold liquid
  • A crazed or chipped glaze lets the body absorb
  • Lighter and cheaper, and shorter lived in daily use

The three words describe firing temperature and how much water the fired body still takes up. Everything else follows from that.
